Evan Hafer – Short Bio

Evan Hafer is a native of Northern Idaho. While growing up, roasting coffee was a regular activity in the Hafer household. He spent time watching his father and grandfather roast delicious coffee at home, and it was here he took an interest in the art.

Hafer dreamt of serving his country as a soldier from a very young age. He joined the Washington National Guard right after he graduated from high school. During training, Hafer produced the top scores in Physical Training and marksmanship. After graduating from Basic Training, Hafer jumped right into the Special Forces course to become a Green Beret.

During his service, he served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Special Serviceman and an Infantry soldier. He was also a Special CIA contractor, an Air force Staff sergeant, and an army ranger.

While still in service, he developed a liking for coffee roasting, and in 2006 he started roasting his coffee beans, which he took to his foreign mission. Before leaving service, he founded Black Rifle Coffee Company and eventually retired from active duty in 2015.

Evan Hafer – Career & Achievements

Before his entrepreneurial success, his first achievements were recorded in the military when he joined the Army as an Infantryman. He later moved to join the elite Green Berets rank and served for more than ten years before working as a personal protection contractor for the US State Department.

During this time, he started honing his coffee roasting skills while moving from Iraq and, later, Afghanistan. He got better at it with regular practice, so it didn’t come as a surprise to friends when he founded Black Rifle Coffee Company in 2014. The company has grown since and gained popularity as a veteran-owned coffee roastery.

Black Coffee may have attracted customers from all sides, but the brand’s popularity gradually rose to a level where it obtained the right to be recognized as a conservative coffee brand. The company’s impressive marketing drive helped drive up sales by double points last year.

With a headquarters in Salt Lake City, Black Rifle Coffee Company pledged to hire 10,000 US veterans as it grew in size. At the time, Black Rifle Coffee had only 50 employees, but the workforce has steadily increased since then.

From a small company that started by selling “Freedom Roasted” coffee at a friend’s website, Even Hafer has done quite well for himself. The company now has a subscription service with more than 100,000 customers.

In 2019 the company broke records by hitting a sales record of $80 million, which was more than double the $30 million target of the previous year. Also, Black Rifle Coffee Company products are sold across 1700 outlets nationwide.
