Goldenvoice To Bring Panorama Festival To New York's Randalls Island
NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Goldenvoice, the AEG-affiliated promoter behind events such as the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, has announced the details for their latest event, the New York City-based Panorama festival.
The three-day event will be staged at New York's Randall's Island from July 22 to 24, featuring "top-tier musical performances, dynamic art installations, innovative technology and some of N.Y.C.’s best local eats."
“We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known,” Goldenvoice's Mark Shulman said in a statement.
Goldenvoice had previously been considering Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens as a venue for the festival, but the decision to stage the event at Randall's Island puts them in direct competition with promoter Founders Entertainment, who stage the Governor's Ball Festival there. This year, Governor's Ball is set for June 3-5th, with a lineup that features headliners Beck, Kanye West, The Strokes and The Killers.
Founders Entertainment's Tom Russell told the New York Times that Goldenvoice's decision to stage Panorama at Randall's Island was “a short-sighted and disappointing solution.”
“The city needs a long-term strategy for approving music festivals that ensures it is maximizing the economic and community impact of these events,” Mr. Russell told The Times.
